Padel arrived here properly in 2023 and went from a handful of courts to a waiting-list sport in two years. Most of what is written about it in Pakistan was published once and never revisited: rates lifted from screenshots, venue lists that have since doubled, and rules explained by people who learned the game from tennis. These guides differ in one specific way — where a number appears, it comes from the database that takes the bookings, so it is what venues charge today rather than last year.

Padel is played in four Pakistani cities — Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi — across venues that take public bookings without a membership. Court rates run roughly Rs 2,000 to Rs 9,000 per hour, which is about Rs 500 to Rs 2,250 per player once split four ways in doubles.

Padel is a doubles racket sport played on a 20m by 10m enclosed court with glass walls you can play the ball off. You serve underarm below waist height after bouncing the ball, the scoring is identical to tennis, and once the ball has bounced on your floor it may come off your own walls and stay in play.

Padel and tennis share only their scoring. Padel is always doubles, on a smaller enclosed court with glass walls in play, using a short solid racket and an underarm serve — which makes it far quicker to learn, and wins points through positioning rather than power.
