Peak and off-peak
Every venue in the country prices evenings higher than daytime, because a floodlit court between 7pm and 11pm is the scarcest thing in Pakistani padel. The gap is typically 30–60%, and at the busiest clubs the peak slots are gone days ahead regardless.
The cheapest hour you can buy is a weekday morning — with a caveat nobody mentions. Four in ten venues in Pakistan do not open until 2pm at all, and fewer than half open before 10am, so the morning discount is only available at about half the clubs. Where it exists it is the largest saving on offer, bigger than any membership discount, and the court is yours for the asking.
What you are paying for
- Court construction — glass-walled courts cost several times what mesh-backed ones do, and they play better.
- Cover and cooling — an indoor, air-conditioned court is a premium product between May and September, and priced like one.
- Turf quality and how recently it was re-sanded; worn turf plays fast and slippery.
- Location — a court in DHA Lahore or Clifton Karachi carries the land cost of DHA Lahore or Clifton Karachi.
- Lighting, which is why the same court can cost two different prices six hours apart.
What it costs a person, not a court
Every rate quoted in Pakistani padel is per court, which is the wrong unit for deciding whether to play. Divided four ways, an hour of padel sits between a cinema ticket and a decent restaurant main — which is why the sport spreads through friend groups rather than through advertising.
The corollary catches people out: a court costs the same with two players on it as with four. Turning up as a pair does not halve the bill, it doubles your share. If your fourth drops out, filling the spot from an open game is worth more than any discount you will find.
How padel compares to the alternatives
For an hour of exercise with three friends, padel competes with a cricket ground booking, a futsal pitch or a gym class. It is usually dearer per head than futsal and cheaper than a private tennis coach, and unlike both it needs no skill to be enjoyable on day one. The honest comparison is not with other sports but with an evening out — and on that comparison it wins easily, which is the actual reason the courts are full.
Memberships, packages and when they pay off
Most venues sell 10- or 20-hour packages at a discount to the walk-up rate, and some run monthly memberships with priority booking. The maths is simple: divide the package price by the hours in it, and compare against the off-peak rate you would otherwise pay. Packages usually win if you play weekly or more, and usually lose if you play twice a month, because the unused hours expire.
Priority booking is often the real value rather than the discount — at a busy club, being able to hold a 9pm Saturday slot is worth more than a few hundred rupees an hour.
