The state of padel in Pakistan
Nobody publishes a padel court count for Pakistan. No federation holds one, the venues quote their rates over WhatsApp, and every figure in circulation traces back to somebody's estimate. Sportel takes the bookings, so this page counts the courts instead — every number below is generated from the same live inventory the booking pages run on, and regenerates itself as venues open, close and reprice.

Finding 01
Islamabad has more padel courts than Karachi
Islamabad holds 31 bookable padel courts. Karachi holds 20. That is the single most surprising thing in this data, and it holds by a clear margin rather than a rounding error. Pakistan's largest city is not its padel capital, and the gap is not close.
For completeness, Lahore sits between the two on 22 — so Islamabad leads the country outright, not only the comparison that makes the better headline.
Per head of population the difference stops being surprising and becomes extraordinary. Islamabad has roughly 23.3× more courts per resident than Karachi. The bars below are absolute court counts; the column beside them is courts per million residents, which is where the story is.

Padel in Pakistan is a night sport
Of the 196 venue-days in this dataset, 57% close after midnight and 36% do not open until 2pm or later. The median venue trades from 10am to 1am.
This is not how padel runs in the countries it came from, where clubs open in the morning and the midday slot is the cheap one. Here the shape of the day is set by heat and by office hours: an outdoor court in a Pakistani afternoon is unplayable for much of the year, so the sport has arranged itself around the evening and pushed into the small hours instead.
The latest close in the country is Padel Plus in Islamabad, at 4am.
Finding 03
The same game costs 4× more depending on where you play
Court rates run from Rs 2,000 to Rs 8,000 an hour, with a median of Rs 4,400. Split four ways in doubles that is Rs 500 to Rs 2,000 a player — the difference between padel as a casual habit and padel as an occasional treat, decided entirely by postcode.
The spread is widening rather than closing. Newer venues are opening at the top of the range with covered courts and glass walls, while the earliest ones hold the bottom, which is the ordinary shape of a sport moving from novelty to established leisure spending.

The market is consolidating into large facilities
The average Pakistani padel venue runs 2.8 courts, but that mean hides the shape of the market: the five largest venues hold 35% of every court in the country. The largest single site is Padel IN Pakistan in Lahore, with 9 courts — on its own more than the whole of Rawalpindi.
That matters for anyone entering the market. A two-court site was a viable padel business in 2023 and is a marginal one now, because a multi-court venue can run leagues, absorb a cancellation without losing the hour, and hold the members who want to play at 9pm on a Friday alongside everyone else who wants to play at 9pm on a Friday.

How these numbers were produced
Every figure comes from Sportel's live booking inventory, generated at page load and revalidated hourly. There is no survey, no sampling and no estimation step: a court counts here if a player can book it today.
- What counts as a court. An active court at an active venue. Venues listed without bookable courts are excluded entirely — including them would inflate the headline count, which is the number everything else rests on.
- What counts as a rate. The court's standard published rate, converted to a per-hour figure. Peak evening pricing sits above it and weekday daytime below, so the range here is narrower than what players actually pay across a week.
- What counts as a venue-day. One venue's opening hours for one day of the week. A club that trades past midnight on Fridays only counts once, not seven times — averaging by venue instead would have hidden exactly the pattern in Finding 02.
- Coverage. Sportel lists most but not necessarily every padel venue in Pakistan. Venues we have not yet added are missing from these counts, which makes every figure here a floor rather than a ceiling.
What this data cannot tell you. We hold inventory and prices, not players or money. Nothing here estimates how many people play padel in Pakistan, what the sport turns over, or how fast it is growing — those numbers exist in circulation, and none of them are ours. A report that padded itself out with guesses would not be worth citing.
